0.1.5 - Several new features!

Instead of my original plan to release one new feature at a time, I got ahead of myself and started adding a few new things at once. After lots of wrestling to get these features cooperating with each other and feeling decent, here's 0.1.5!

New Features

- Avatar IK:
There's now an upper body avatar. If it gets wonky, just spread your arms and it should straighten itself out. Not into VR arm wonkiness? I feel you. There's a switch in the menu to turn it off.

- Shooter Game:
There's now a shooter minigame at the starting area. You are given control over a flock of alien birds and a gun which can change the color of their trails to red. Match all of the trails to generate a power crystal!* The gun can also be holstered at your right hip, as long as the avatar is enabled.

- Jetpack:
Close to the starting area is a climbing wall. If you ascend this wall, there will be a jetpack waiting at the top. Once you acquire it, you can simply press the right thumbstick forward to thrust upwards into the air. The main reason for this control scheme is so that you can freely aim with both hands and still turn while jetpacking. This ability has limited power but recharges quickly when not in use.

- Race Track:
There's now a simple track that can be driven on, ending with a loop. Having some trouble with physics and geometry. More plans for this later.

- Waypoint:
The dashboard of the hover car will have a simple waypoint to guide you to the next point of interest, and each point will have a sign with more details. This is a very crude implementation and will be changed later on, but should help introduce you to the new features for now.

* Power crystals do not currently serve a purpose.

More Info

This project has come a long way since it first began. It's my first game ever, and I had no idea it would expand this quickly, or that it was even plausible to run smoothly on the Oculus Quest. Originally, all I wanted was a cool speeder bike that I could drive across an infinite landscape. Maybe some simple delivery missions, like a taxi service. But as I worked more, and learned more about game development, I quickly realized all the fun that could be had in this world I created.

I'm now making an open world adventure, which is probably stupidly ambitious for such a new developer. But obviously, this won't match the scope of games like Skyrim or Grand Theft Auto. I just want the player to feel like they're truely in another world. They'll have the freedom to explore it and engage with it in different ways. There will be a main storyline, some key characters, multiple destinations, several types of quests to complete, and more unique variations of gameplay. The story will be handcrafted and limited, but the world will be endless and include procedurally generated content as well. I'm also preparing a reasonable budget to hire an artist with stylized 3D modeling expertise.

I don't want to give away too much about the game too soon. But there is still a lot more in the works and a long way to go!
